Who We Are
Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church
was formed in the early 1960’s. At that time the east
side of Greenville was still very rural, but growing rapidly.
The
first meeting
place for the infant church was in an old school house near the
current site. A chapel and five classrooms were completed in
1962. Shannon
Forest Christian school was started in 1968 with one kindergarten
class in the church building.
Mission Program
Shannon Forest has always had a strong missions program. We have
had the privilege of helping to start new churches in Charleston
and Florence, SC. Many of our
families and leaders helped to start Davenport Road Presbyterian Church in
Simpsonville (now moved & renamed) and Covenant Presbyterian in Powdersville.
Shannon has sent many men and women to serve on the mission field, foreign
and home, as well as to seminary to prepare for the ministry.
Present Day
Today, Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church and Christian
School are in the middle of one of the most rapidly developing areas
of Greenville. The Lord has been faithful to this ministry and
has
blessed it in many ways. The church has about 300 people who attend
the Sunday morning service. The school has about 500 students
in K-3 through 12th grade.
The Lord is leading this ministry to move ahead in faith and to trust Him.
Shannon Forest has consistently had a strong women’s ministry
through the Thursday Morning Bible study and the Women in the
Church.
Learning and Growing
We are serving our community through our Christian school, Sunday
School,
women’s
Bible study, youth groups, Covenant Groups,
senior's ministry and worship service. It will be exciting to see what
God has planned
for us as we seek to do His will.
